SUMMARY:Little Hammies - Kids Adventure Race
DESCRIPTION:A one-of-a-kind kids adventure where your child will 🚲 RIDE 🏃 RUN 🧗 CLIMB and 💦 SPLASH through an action-packed experience on their feet\, on their bike\, and alongside their best friend. Grab a teammate to complete this adventure with! \nTeams of two between the ages of 6-14 will compete in a challenging 3 mile course! \nWhat does the schedule of events look like?\nFriday: Oct 16th – Run/Ride Night Time Duathlon (half mile to 1 mile total) \n4:30PM get a sneak preview of the course\, test obstacles and get prepared to race! \n5:00PM – Packet Pick Up begins for Race Day \n6:00PM. -A Run/Ride Under the lights! Kids will run a short loop with natural obstacles and then grab their bikes and do a similar loop to complete the race! Think\, traditional Little Hammies bike race\, with a short running element. Individual competition. \n7:00PM – Awards on the Discover Shelby Stage \nSaturday: Oct 17th – Adventure Race! \n9:00AM – Registration/Check In Opens \n10:00 AM – First Wave of racers takes off (Oldest First) \n1:00PM – Awards Ceremony + Food Truck Fun \nHow to sign up?\nParents will register each athlete separately. Then we will pair them based on the team name you enter. Enter the same team name on both registrations\, and we’ll pair them together on our end. Later your will receive a confirmation of the category they are racing. \n$49 per athlete ($98 per team) \nWhere is the race happening?\nHeardmont Park – 5458 Cahaba Valley Rd \nBirmingham\, AL 3524 \nThis park offers tons of natural beauty and nearby amenities. It’s the perfect location for parents to see almost 100% of the action while kids feel surrounded by flowing water\, exposed rocks\, big bridges and woods! \nWhat challenges will my child expect on the course?\nNatural challenges such as harnessed rock climbing\, free bouldering\, wading through creeks\, bridge crossings\, rooty mountain bike trails and more! \nHow long will the race take?\nAverage times are expected to take 1 hour to complete. There will be waves of racers on the course starting at 10AM on Saturday. \nWho Should Attend?\nThis event is for ages 6-14 because of the distance and challenges along the way. \nHow are age categories determined?\nThe oldest teammate’s age on race day determines the age group you race in. Example\, 6 and 9 year old are partnered together\, they will race in the 8-9 category. \nGirls 6-7 \nGirls 8-9 \nGirls 10-11 \nGirls 12-14 \nBoys 6-7 \nBoys 8-9 \nBoys 10-11 \nBoys 12-14 \nCoed 6-7 \nCoed 8-9 \nCoed 10-11 \nCoed 12-14 \nOPEN – for age pairings more than 3 years apart. (ex; 6 and 10 year old) (No podium) \nWhat does my child need to compete.\nHere’s the BARE Minimum Gear List for each racer: \n– Properly fitting bike \n– Helmet \n– comfortable athletic or water proof shoes (no open toes) \n– Water Bottle \nNice to have: \nBack Pack \nBike Gloves \nTheir own first aid kit \nWhat if I cant find a partner?\nWe will allow single entries but will pair you with a similar age racer on the week before the race to complete the race with!
