The holiday season is right around the corner. Birmingham Mom Collective is thrilled to tell local families about all the exciting, family-friendly events coming to the Birmingham Jefferson Convention Complex (BJCC)! There is truly something for everyone to enjoy. Here is our list of the best the family-friendly BJCC events for winter 2024.

ACE Cheer Competition

When: Sunday, November 17

Where: BJCC East Exhibition Hall

ACE Cheer Company strives to help each athlete reach or exceed their potential as a cheerleader and person. Our program is intended to teach teamwork, goal setting, personal commitment, and leadership qualities that will last a lifetime. Come and see the ACE Cheer Competition this year in the BJCC East Exhibition Hall.

 

Maverick City Music

When: Saturday, November 23

Maverick City Music is a contemporary worship collective from Atlanta, Georgia, founded in 2018. Known for its diverse blend of gospel, R&B, and contemporary Christian music, the group aims to break barriers in the Christian music industry by promoting inclusivity and unity. Their spontaneous, live-recorded worship style creates an authentic and communal experience.

The Maverick City Music “Good News Tour” will feature Naomi Raine, Chandler Moore, Tasha Cobbs Leonard, JWLKRS, Nick Day, Todd Galberth, Mara Justine, Brunes Charles, and Genavieve, with special guests Tim Godfrey, Stephen McWhirter, and Sam Rivera.

Maverick City Music has released several acclaimed albums and EPs, earning Grammy and Dove Award nominations and collaborating with artists like Elevation Worship and Kirk Franklin. Their mission is to inspire through music while reflecting the beauty of God’s kingdom through unity and creativity.

 

Disney Jr. Live On Tour: Let’s Play

When: Friday, November 29

Hot Dog! Mickey is getting ready for the biggest Playdate ever at the Clubhouse! And he has invited all his favorite friends to come play – including Minnie, Goofy, Team Spidey , Ginny, the Puppy Dog Pals and his new friend Ariel. They are all meeting up at the Clubhouse for dancing, games, snacks and the best day ever. The fun is interrupted with some extremely unusual weather, green wind, rain and snow! Only Spidey and his amazing friends Ghost Spider and Spin can help us find out who is behind this strange green mystery and save the Playdate! 

 

The Illusionists- Magic of the Holidays presented by Broadway in Birmingham

Celebrate the holidays with the entire family at The Illusionists – Magic of the Holidays, a mind-blowing spectacle featuring the jaw-dropping talents of the most incredible illusionists on earth. This non-stop show is packed with thrilling and sophisticated magic of unprecedented proportions. 

 

It’s a Holiday Feeling with ASO and Friends

When: Friday, December 6

Experience the magic of the holiday season with the Alabama Symphony Orchestra! Joining the orchestra is fabulous guest soloist, Birmingham’s own Sadie Goodman. With featured pianist Rich Ridenour, the ASO will perform classics like Carol of the Bells, Santa Claus is Coming to Town, and Merry Christmas Darling. Santa Clause himself might even stop by to make an appearance! Enjoy hot chocolate and cider before the concert and enjoy an evening of classical music and Christmas Spirit. 

 

Celtic Angels Christmas

Trans-Siberian Orchestra

Trans-Siberian Orchestra (TSO) is a progressive rock band founded in 1996 by producer and composer Paul O’Neill. Known for their elaborate Christmas-themed rock operas, TSO blends classical, orchestral, and rock elements to create a unique and powerful sound. Their debut album, “Christmas Eve and Other Stories,” released in 1996, featured the hit single “Christmas Eve/Sarajevo 12/24.” TSO is renowned for their spectacular live shows, which include extensive light displays, pyrotechnics, and intricate stage designs. Alabama Ballet presents George Balanchine’s The Nutcracker®
