My #1 Tip for Surviving Baseball Season with Siblings

Baseball season has arrived, and it brings late night practices plus multiple games per week. I don’t know about you, but when we spend 2-3 nights at the fields, the need to entertain siblings is ever present. While our entire family enjoys watching my son play, his siblings get antsy and in need of something to do at times.

Enter: The Baseball “Go Bag”

The best way I have found to keep siblings entertained is to have a “go bag” ready for each game day. I’ve learned that having multiple activities to keep their hands busy also keeps everyone happy.

The most important item in my bag is snacks, snacks, and more snacks. Game days are all about snacks when it comes to my kids. A favorite snack/treat to have is suckers. They last for a long time and my kids love them. We also have gummies, protein bars, and homemade lunchables of meat, cheese, and crackers.

I keep the bag filled with activities that I will rotate through at each event. Some of these include books, sidewalk chalk, bubbles, coloring books with crayons, and stickers.

New Additions

I will be adding a few new things to each bag this season. Playdough, micro magnet tiles, magnetic puzzles, and a small first aid kit will be joining the line up. My 9 year old loves to take photos and videos, so I’ll also be tossing in an old digital camera for him to use during games this year, too.

An important note is that the items in the go bag are for the ball park only. This keeps them interested in these specific items and looking forward to them each game day.

Let’s Play Ball!

All in all, we are ready for this season and cannot wait to watch our little baller play his heart out. And those of us on the sidelines will have plenty of resources to entertain the little minds and hands of siblings when they get restless.
