Who doesn’t love a parade? My family loves going to Christmas parades every year to soak in the atmosphere. Of course, candy and a glimpse of Santa are always great too! Here’s a list of Christmas parades in the Birmingham area.

UPDATE: The parade has been postponed due to a threat of bad weather. The Parade begins at Long Lewis Ford and proceeds South to the Alabaster Police Station where the judges platform is located. The parade then turns and goes over the train tracks, past Alabaster Auto, past the Thrift Store shopping center. It ends at the stop sign in front of Southbrook Village on 1st Street Southwest. In order to view all of the Parade entries, you will need to be South of the Milo's Hamburgers building across from the 1022 Tower. NOTE: Candy will be thrown along the Parade route. Please do not enter Highway 31 to retrieve candy as that creates a dangerous situation!

Christmas time in Helena is something truly magical to take in. The first weekend of December events pack the streets getting everyone into the Christmas spirit. Friday night residents and visitors alike are treating to music and festivities leading up to the City Christmas Tree Lighting. During this time you can shop craft vendors at the Holiday Market. On Saturday crowds line the streets of Old Town to usher in the annual Christmas Parade. All ages are treated to performances, floats, and much more closing out with Santa hitching a ride on the Fire Truck.

This is a free event for the citizens of Trussville to enjoy. The parade will begin on Parkway Drive. It will turn right onto Highway 11 and right again onto Chalkville Mountain Road. The parade will end after it passes by the Christmas tree at the Mall. Special thanks to Brown Automotive for being the presenting sponsor. This year's parade theme is "The Sights and Sounds of Christmas”. Entries are encouraged but not required to take part in the theme for the float competition. Prizes will be awarded to: Best Interpretation of Theme, Most Original, Most Innovative, Best Overall and Best Walking Group.
