Birmingham

Birmingham has always been my home.  Most of my extended family lives here and I had never lived anywhere else before leaving to go to college.  After graduating from Auburn (War Eagle!), I pursued a graduate degree at Radford University in Virginia.  I met my husband, Graham, in grad school while we were both working on campus as Resident Directors.

It took us a while before Graham and I could manage to get jobs in the same place at the same time.  I completed a fellowship in Knoxville, TN while Graham was finishing up school in Virginia.  I got sick of driving in the snow and took a job in Pensacola, FL right before Graham got a job outside of Knoxville.  Our timing was less than ideal.  He moved a couple more times to Charleston and Mobile while I was living my best life at the beach.  We had dated across five states at that point, so we were thrilled to be living only an hour apart!

Four years after we started dating, Graham accepted a job as a firefighter in Birmingham.  Conveniently, he had been planning to propose just a couple of weeks later.  We got engaged on Christmas Eve in front of the Bromberg’s Christmas tree and it was time for me to move back to Birmingham.  We got married in 2013 and Birmingham has been our home ever since!

Mom

My very first job was working in the nursery at my church.  I loved being a nanny in college and I babysat every chance I got.  It wasn’t until I spent a summer working at Camp Winnataska that I found my calling to be a speech-language pathologist.

I always knew I was meant to work with kids.  So, focusing on pediatrics was a no-brainer for me.  I opened my practice in 2016 and I’m convinced I have the best job in the world!

All that to say, I knew I wanted to be a mom long before Graham and I got married.  Through a lot of prayer and the help of the team at Alabama Fertility, we welcomed our little boy in 2017.   Our daughter completed our family in 2022.  The past couple of years have been a blur but we have loved watching these two bond.  Our little girl thinks her brother hung the moon and our son constantly reminds me that sister is “the best.”  Most days I’m not too jealous that his sister replaced me as his favorite person.

I’m excited to join the BMC team and try my hand at blogging!  One of the things I love most about my job is working with the families of the children I treat.  I love working in private practice because I get to work children of all ages and collaborate with their parents.  Helping families advocate for their children is something I’m very passionate about.  I’m excited to connect with even more moms here!
