Birmingham

I am originally from Snellville, Georgia. My family moved here in 1999. It’s hard to believe that was 24 years ago! I transferred to Oak Mountain High School & became part of the graduating class. I discovered my love for golf & music at OMHS.

I have lived all over Alabama and the Birmingham area. One of my favorite things to do is find hidden gems. I love finding neat food places, places to hike, playgrounds, and thrift stores. Speaking of thrift stores, I absolutely love going thrift store shopping with my mom! Going on mini road trip adventures is one of my favorites, as well.

Before I became a mom, I was often downtown going to different music venues & enjoying the city life, but I enjoyed the quiet of my apartment. I loved hiking and have found several fun trails. Archery is also a passion of mine and if I wasn’t at the gym, I was often out at Oak Mountain State Park shooting my bow.

I have found even more fun places since becoming a mom. Of course, I love going back to the ones I loved before and seeing them through the eyes of my children.

Mom

I am an older single mother of two wonderful children. My son Emmett is five, his sister Elianna is one, and I’m 38. Emmett is autistic and has ADHD. He’s extremely smart and is constantly surprising me every day.

I was told that it takes a village and that’s absolutely true! I’m beyond blessed to have mine. I’m thankful to be able to call these amazing people my friends. We are staying with my mom in Pelham and my kids adore their Gigi!

Collective

I’m looking forward to sharing more of Emmett’s story with you. I’m a big advocate for raising awareness about Autism & special needs children. I’m excited to be able to share several resources and places that are accommodating to these children. I am hoping I can be of help to others who are unsure of what to do or where to go. Something as simple as getting a haircut can be a huge challenge! I know that places that are not only accommodating but also treat your child with respect and kindness are not always the easiest to find. My hope is to highlight several of these places.

I can’t wait to get started and bring insight, guidance, and humor in this wonderful life of being a parent of a truly amazing child!
