trick-or-treating in Birmingham

We have already felt the drop in temperatures, which means Halloween will be here before we know it! So, I have asked around and found out the town favorites for trick-or-treating in Birmingham and surrounding areas. Whether it’s good candy, sidewalks, or well-lit streets, you are sure to find a place you and your kids will enjoy spending your Halloween night.

Calera

Waterford Village and Villas is a great community to visit in Calera for trick-or-treating. The neighborhood includes streetlights and sidewalks on both sides of the street, so you will not find yourself too spooked on Halloween night.

Chelsea

Courtyard Manor

While this is a smaller subdivision of 40 or so homes, the treats are not limited to full-size candy bars. You may even get some toys, cotton candy, or $1 bills. The neighborhood does have some hills, so make sure to wear comfortable shoes and bring a stroller or wagon for the kiddos.

Helena

Hillsboro

In Helena, there are a few neighborhoods that come to mind for Halloween. Hillsboro’s sidewalks and well-llit streets will make trick-or-treating easy for everyone. If their Halloween decorations are anything like their Christmas decorations, they go all out.

Old Cahaba

Old Cahaba has a ton of homes to visit, as well. The night will be very festive as you are sure to see many people riding around in golf carts lit with purple and orange lights. There is plenty of fun to go around in this neighborhood!

Homewood

Edgewood

Homewood has always been a charming place, and you will enjoy spending your Halloween in Edgewood.

The streets around Oxmoor and the Homewood library

We are even told that the walkable streets around Oxmoor and the Homewood library have great trick-or-treat goodies.

Hoover

Bluff Park Halloween Trail

The Bluff Park Halloween Trail is by the pool/playground in Bluff Park. You will love the elaborate decorations and enjoy some great trick or treating.

The Preserve

Another great place to trick or-treat in Hoover is The Preserve. With almost 800 homes, The Preserve will have plenty of treats handed out on Halloween Night. Plus, if you don’t get full on candy, you can finish the night eating dinner at local restaurants off Preserve Parkway.

McCalla

Letson Farms in McCalla loves to celebrate Halloween. Their streetlights are replaced with colorful pumpkin lanterns to celebrate the season. With well-lit sidewalks, you will find this neighborhood great for trick-or-treating. You are certain to score some sweet treats at some of the 645 homes, here!

Moody

If you are in the Moody area, you need to check out Kelly Creek Gardens. They have sidewalks, and families come in by the truckload to visit. You and your kids will love seeing all of these homes decked out in Halloween décor.

Mt. Laurel

Mt. Laurel is another great location to visit for Halloween night. You can expect fun decorations and great candy as you wind down the sidewalks.

Of course, there are plenty of other amazing neighborhoods to visit around Birmingham. If you have any favorites, make sure to comment and let us know where and why you love trick-or-treating there!

Mary Anne S
Even though Mary Anne was born in Florida, she considers herself an Alabama native. They moved to Birmingham when she was three, and she lived in the same house until she left for college in 2008. She met her husband at the University of Alabama their Freshmen year, and they will be celebrating their 10-year anniversary this fall! She graduated in 2013 with a Master’s Degree in Accounting and passed the CPA exam. She went inactive and left the accounting world to be a stay-at-home mom to their daughter Lily Grace (4) and son Isaac (2). Don’t let the headshot fool you: her everyday attire is messy hair, yesterday’s makeup, and athletic ware. When she’s not at home doing the laundry, you can find her dancing at the gym, training for a 5k, or crafting in the dining room. The kids weren’t keeping her busy enough, so she started The Confetti Shoppe in 2022 making party décor, personalized totes, and handmade gifts.
