burn boot campAs we age and responsibilities get piled on our plates, our personal health goals can easily get pushed down the priority list. Birmingham is fortunate to have so many workout facility options, but how do you choose the best fit for you and your goals? Thankfully, two local moms, Heather and Dianne, are here with Birmingham Mom Collective (BMC) to share why Burn Boot Camp has been a great investment for them.

BMC: What factors were important to you when searching for a fitness gym?

Heather: As a busy mom, finding a gym that fit my needs was a challenge. I needed a place that would provide effective, time-efficient workouts and quality childcare services for my young children. That’s why I chose Burn Boot Camp, a fitness center that exceeded my expectations.

Dianne: One of the first things that stood out to me about Burn was the supportive community, mostly made up of strong women. Unlike other gyms that can be intimidating to new members, Burn offered a judgment-free environment where everyone, especially the trainers, made me feel welcome. They took the time to learn my name and made me feel like I was part of the community.

BMC: What ultimately led you to choose Burn over the other available options?

Dianne: A key factor in my decision to choose Burn was the quality of their childcare services. With 45-minute classes offered throughout the day, I had a lot of options to choose from, including virtual classes. Plus, with the confidence that my children were in good hands, I could focus on my workout and myself for that 45-minute session.

Heather: I love the energy the trainers bring to the floor, and, after just a week of working out, my body began to respond. Plus the floating floor is gentle on my joints. I have done plenty of other workout programs throughout my life, from barre classes, to yoga, to running, and Burn stands out as one of the most effective workouts I have tried to date. It’s an investment I’ve made in myself!

BMC: How is their program structured and what about it keeps you motivated to stick with it?

Dianne: The Burn program is designed to keep things fresh and exciting. Every week, they release a weekly protocol, outlining which days will be cardio, strength training, core, legs, and more. The best part? Every class is different, and the trainers make sure to tailor the workout to each individual in a group setting. Whether you need to mod-up or mod-down, they have your back.

Heather: The camps at Burn are different every day. Every Sunday, the daily workouts get posted online and I’ve never done the same workout twice, despite racking up quite a few leg days there! Classes are short—only 45 minutes total—and include a warm-up, an active workout that resembles circuit training or HIIT, a finisher to push yourself in the last few minutes of class, and a cool-down/stretching component. Every class flies by, and I always break a sweat. The trainers make all 45 minutes count!

BMC: How do you measure success relative to your fitness goals?

Heather: As a mom, my fitness goals are less about traditional body ideals and more about functionality. Burn helps me measure my success in terms of my ability to keep up with my children on the playground. I use Burn to ensure I can climb, run, and jump with the rest of the family. It also helps me ensure that my heart will stay healthy and full of love for decades to come.

Dianne: Having the encouragement of other moms (now friends) is a huge thing when you are trying to meet fitness goals. I measure my strength by how easily I can put my toddler in their car seat and how many bags of groceries I can carry. Most importantly, I have found that the time I invest in myself through Burn has improved my physical and mental health. I’m a better, more fulfilled mom.
