Hi, everyone!
My name is Mandi and I am so excited to be a contributor for BMB!
Birmingham
I grew up in Columbus, Georgia (on the Georgia/Alabama line) and met my husband, Brett, in high school. We dated for five years and have been married for almost six. In 2014, a job opportunity presented itself to him in Birmingham and we jumped on it immediately! It was a “big city” far away, yet close enough to home. We were young and excited. We left behind all of our family and friends and set out on a new adventure! In 2017, we left Birmingham for a year and moved to Nashville. As much as we loved it there, we were further away from family and from what we had grown to love. Birmingham has always had a special place in our hearts because of the wonderful memories and milestones we have shared here. This time, our life looks a lot different than before so we are very excited to venture out into new territory. We are living in a different area than before and are looking forward to finding new friends, parks, family fun, a new church — this will be a whole new adventure for our family!
Moms
In 2016, we had our daughter, Brinley. She is now 20 months and keeps us on our toes! She is the most spirited, loving little girl and I am so grateful to be her mommy. Before having Brinley, I taught elementary school for five years. I have taken some time off to focus on her and stay home while I can. I used to joke with my husband that at the end of a day full of conversations with ten year olds, I needed adult interaction. Now, I am home all day with my daughter who doesn’t quite “talk” much, but can certainly tell me “No!”. While I miss my other “kids”, I am so grateful for this time I am able to spend with her. I can’t even remember my life before becoming her mom!
I am also a mom to our three fur babies, Chloe, Nala (cats) and Nash (dog).
Blog
Living in a world in which social media has such a presence, there is so much negative judgment on mothers. The truth is, we are all just trying to do our best and be the best that we can be. Since becoming a mother, I have enjoyed reading parenting blogs. It gives a feeling of encouragement and understanding. I am looking forward to being a contributor for BMB and excited to share my thoughts and ideas within such a positive, uplifting community.
