For preteen and teenage girls, it can be difficult to find clothing that shows off their blossoming personalities without looking too young or too mature. As the mother of a pre-teen, I know how hard it can be to agree on an outfit that falls somewhere between kindergarten cutie and sorority recruitment ready. Whether your girl is preppy, athletic, trendy, or somewhere in between, you have several options for tween clothing in Birmingham that will make both you and your daughter happy!

Bandwagon

926 Oxmoor Road, Homewood, AL 35209
3120 Heights Village, Vestavia Hills, AL 35243

Whether your daughter is a star athlete or just loves to show her school spirit, Bandwagon is the place to go to support her local school. Their stores offer the area’s largest selection of on-trend clothing and accessories that feature logos and lettering for Homewood, Mountain Brook, and Vestavia Hills schools. Bandwagon has locations in both Cahaba Heights and Homewood. Both stores carry clothing in sizes to fit the entire family, so everyone can show their school pride at the next football or softball game. It is also a great place to pick up equipment for your child’s favorite sport.

Dear Emmaline

628 Montgomery Highway, Vestavia Hills, AL 35216

Founded by a local mom with a love for classic children’s clothing, Dear Emmaline features a section of big kids clothing that fits boys and girls from sizes 7 to 14. Dear Emmaline is a perfect mix of traditional and stylish clothing. Your tween will love their accessories and wall of adorable shoes that can be dressed up or down. Younger siblings will not feel left out; their selection of clothing for babies and little ones will ensure you find something for every child in the family.

GiGi’s

3140 Heights Village, Vestavia Hills, AL 35243

In the heart of Cahaba Heights, GiGi’s was founded by a sister duo looking for a way to make tween girls feel fun and confident. You will find the latest trends with classic styles mixed in. The game day collections for local and collegiate teams cannot be beat, and the holiday styles are always a hit with my daughter and her friends. With clothes in both tween and junior sizing, you will be sure to find something for every shape and size. GiGi’s sister store next door, The Lili Pad, offers one of the largest selections of children’s clothing in the area. If you are like me, you may even find a few things at GiGi’s that will be great additions to your own closet!

J.Crew Crewcuts Factory Store

2800 Cahaba Village Plaza, Suite 220, Mountain Brook, AL 35243

J.Crew Factory is no longer just an annual stop on your beach trip. In summer 2024, J.Crew Factory brought their classic clothing line to Cahaba Village in Mountain Brook. Crewcuts is a children’s division of J.Crew that offers clothing in children’s sizes 4 to 16. Styles on the adult side of the store begin at 00. While some designs are exclusive to the Crewcuts line, many of the silhouettes and fabric selections echo those of the adult line, so shopping for your family’s Christmas card outfits has never been easier.

Mon Ami

40 Church Street, Mountain Brook, AL 35213

This boutique was founded by a mother and daughter team and offers a fun and diverse range of clothing for both boy and girl tweens. For girls, one side of the store has sweet styles that are more suitable for elementary aged preteens, and the other side of the store carries slightly more mature fashions that middle school girls will feel great in. One unique thing I love about Mon Ami is that you can take home clothing on a 24 hour loan, let your daughter try on those items at home, and then buy what you love or return what doesn’t fit the next day. They really help take the stress out of tween shopping!

Soca Girl

2820 18th Street South, Homewood, AL 35209

Founded by the CEO of Soca when she was looking for age appropriate, confidence building clothing for her own preteen, Soca Girl in Homewood is a great store for tweens. If you are a fan of Soca clothing yourself, you will approve of their cute trends for your preteen or teenager. Soca Girl has one of the area’s largest selections of tween athleisure clothing. It is so popular that they have to restock the athleisure section daily. Soca Girl also has lots of tween girl approved gifts and accessories that make it a one stop shop for your next birthday or holiday.
