Birmingham

I have had the privilege to call Birmingham home for the past 10 years. I moved here as an 18 year old to study at Samford University and have loved every minute of living in this amazing city. I love how much Birmingham has to offer in every realm — food, entertainment, medical care. There are always new restaurants to try and great shows coming to town (pre-COVID, of course). There are so many beautiful parks like Red Mountain and Oak Mountain where you can explore the beauty of the Alabama outdoors. Whatever you want to do — it is definitely in Birmingham. I also love the smaller communities within the city, like Vestavia, Homewood, Hoover. You get the benefits of a big city while also enjoying that small town feel.

Getting to be a mom in Birmingham is a huge blessing! The people in this city are so kind. There are countless ways to get connected to other moms and families in the area. I also love the community that Birmingham has given me! My parents moved here a few years ago, our best friends are here, and we have an awesome gym community at Crossfit Laminin. Even though we weren’t raised here, Birmingham is surely home.

This is my wolf pack – my hubby Kyle and my little doll Asher.

Mom

I am mom to 11-month-old Asher and it is my absolute greatest privilege and treasure. We brought Asher home from the hospital the first day that the COVID-19 restrictions and lockdowns started, March 12, 2020. So, navigating being a new mom in the midst of a global pandemic has been very interesting. I learned the truth in the age-old saying of “It takes a village to raise a child.” I am blessed with an amazing community of family and friends who rallied around us to help out, encourage us in our faith, pray with and for us, and help us get more comfortable with this new life of parenthood.

I have learned that many things change when you become a mother — and mostly for the better! I feel you change as a person so much, but only into a much truer version of yourself. This amazingly deep love and care and compassion comes out of you that you didn’t even know existed! My favorite thing about being a mother is being my son’s safe place, his comfort, his go-to, his person. It brings me so much joy to see him laugh and smile and grow and learn. It is also hilarious to see my personality coming out in him — which I’m not sure is a good or bad thing! Ha!

Collective

I am passionate about Jesus, my family, and healthcare — specifically lifestyle medicine. I am pumped to bring all of these together and share information with y’all that will help us give our families the healthiest futures possible — physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. It can be hard to include healthy habits into our busy lives at home and on the go, but my goal is to share the latest medical research with y’all in an easy-to-digest way and include tips on how we can use this in our daily lives to keep our families as healthy as possible!
