Birmingham
I moved to Birmingham in 2017 and have loved living here ever since. I grew up in a small town about two hours away and always loved venturing to Birmingham for concerts, shopping, and other random adventures.
My husband and I stumbled upon the Bluff Park neighborhood while looking at homes for sale and quickly fell in love. Nine years, one house, and two kids later, we love the area even more.
Bluff Park has the small-town, Mayberry feel I grew up with while still being just 10 minutes from Costco and 20 minutes from all the fun downtown. Birmingham has so much to offer, and it’s been such a joy to put down roots and raise our family here.
Mom
I have a 7-year-old daughter and a 4-year-old son. They’re perfect cherubs who are always respectful, never argue, and keep our house impeccably tidy.
Just kidding!
They humble me daily. Hourly, even.
Motherhood has taught me that I have very little control over anything and that it’s always helpful to pack snacks. Just when I think I have everything “figured out,” I blink, and someone’s shoes are too small while someone else suddenly declares she no longer likes cheese.
I’ve been a mom for seven years, and it’s been the hardest, most magical experience. I have a feeling it’s only going to get harder–and even more magical.
Collective
I started following Birmingham Mom Collective (BMC) when I became a mom in 2019. I had just quit my job as a teacher to become a full-time-stay-at-home-mom, and I was relatively new to Birmingham. BMC was a great resource for navigating all the new transitions and figuring out how to spend my time as a new mom with a fresh baby.
Now, I’m finding myself in another transition period. My 4-year-old is starting Pre-K, and my stay-at-home mom days are numbered. I’ve had the desire to write for as long as I can remember, and I’m grateful for the chance to write for BMC. I’m fighting through imposter syndrome in the hope of sharing some of my experiences as a mom in this wonderful city.
