Birmingham
I was born and raised in Montgomery, AL and always dreamed of living in the “big city” of Birmingham, where Vulcan stood proud over the city and the 90’s department stores had everything we needed for back to school shopping. My dream became reality when I attended UAB and majored in Chemistry. I then graduated from medical school at the University of South Alabama, where I met my husband. We moved to Gainesville, Florida, where I completed my OB-GYN residency. We were excited to be able to return to Birmingham eight years ago. Since then, we have fallen in love with Cahaba Heights, a fun and vibrant community within Vestavia Hills.
Mom
After moving to Birmingham, I began working with an amazing OB-GYN group at a wonderful hospital in Birmingham. While I loved caring for my sweet patients and delivering their babies, I felt like I was missing out on life with my own babies! I slowly decreased my work load and eventually decided to stop working, with the exception of a few days a month at a pregnancy resource center. It was one of the hardest decisions, but it has been a good fit for my family. That decision has also allowed me to explore other ways I can make a positive impact in my community.
My daughter Margot (8) loves art, dance, and cheer; while my son William (4) is happiest doing any sport involving a ball. I am learning to juggle multiple extra curricular activities, and I strive to keep a healthy balance for my family. I have enjoyed different things about every stage of motherhood. During this stage of life, I really cherish “my people,” the moms who love my kids like their own and who I can count on for an encouraging word or honest advice. My hope is that I can be there for them, too, and be the best version of the wife, mom, and friend that God has created me to be.
Collective
I am passionate about making my corner of the world a little better. I have had the privilege of serving on several nonprofit boards of directors, and I love being actively involved in my local church’s children’s ministry and school’s PTO. When we work together and lift each other up, I believe that we can do more. I am excited to be a part of Birmingham Mom Collective and have the opportunity to share some of the knowledge I have gained as an OB-GYN, wife, mother, and community volunteer. I love talking about and learning about women’s healthcare and wellness, my community, and how to help my tiny humans grow into amazing, caring people.
