Gone are the days of setting up a bouncy house in the front yard or reserving the pavilion at the city park and calling it a birthday party. As our kids get older, we have to plan for more than cupcakes, balloons, and juice boxes to keep them entertained. Whether your budget is small or you’ve been saving up for a sweet 16, hopefully you will find all the inspiration you need to celebrate birthdays for teen boys in Birmingham!

1. Activate

Activate is a dynamic game room using interactive technology that is guaranteed to keep your adrenaline running as you jump, climb, and problem-solve together as a group. Activate offers birthday party packages if you are planning to invite several friends.

2. Top Golf

Top Golf offers an entertaining way to play golf with your friends in a fun, relaxing outdoor atmosphere. No matter the weather, Top Golf keeps you comfortable outside with their fans or heaters. 3. Putter Up

This indoor putt-putt facility in Pelham is located at Campus 124. At Putter Up, you can play 9 holes or 18, but keep in mind that if you pay for 18 holes you play the same 9 holes a second time. When you finish your game, head across the hall to The Beer Hog or Half Shell Oyster House for a tasty meal!

4. The Back Yard

The Back Yard is part of the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail. There are only 9 holes and all of them are par 3. The course has no water hazards and only a few bunkers, making it the perfect place to play a round of golf for even the inexperienced teen golfer.

5. K-1 Speed Go Cart Racing

Who doesn’t love driving go carts, especially for the teen boys that aren’t quiet 16 yet?! This indoor go-cart facility offers speed and exhilaration as you race 12 laps around the track. They offer birthday party packages starting at $49.95 per person.

6. The Backyard

Spend the evening at the outlet mall in Leeds! Grab a table at Saw’s BBQ or Neighbors Brew and Pies. While you wait on your order, play mini-golf or corn-hole. After dinner, head to the drive in. Movie times begin at 8:30. For the mid-movie munchies, head to The Snack Shack for drinks, candy, and popcorn. An evening at The Backyard is bound to keep your boys entertained and they definitely won’t go hungry!

7. Breakout

Breakout is named the #1 escape room in Birmingham. From the Wild West to a Runaway Train, a Submarine Survival to an Island Escape, there are many themes available. There is even a Clue themed escape room. Will your son and his friends escape?

8. Lake Purdy

Spend the day on the water on Lake Purdy! You can rent a pontoon boat, bass boat, motor boats, kayaks, and paddle boards. Whether it’s fishing, swimming, floating, or kayaking, this is sure to be a hit with the boys that love the outdoors.

9. Take a Day Trip!

Take the boys to PopStroke in Tuscaloosa where they can enjoy Tiger Woods’ mini-golf course. Or, head south to Montgomery and ride the rapids at Montgomery Whitewater
