Possibly the most unique take on the much-loved treat is Sons Donuts. Their motto is “Always Fresh. Always Hot,” so they’re made to order! These aren’t your ordinary donuts, either! The donuts are miniature—perfect for indulging in multiple flavors and nicely sized for children.
All of their donuts start as a classic vanilla donut but then set themselves apart through your selection of sugars and/or glazes! Be sure to check out their seasonal flavors, including “Springtime” topped with Paris tea sugar and edible spring petals.

The Heavenly Donut Co.

When it comes to convenience, The Heavenly Donut Co. has you covered! With a food truck and store front, The Heavenly Donut Co. is the most accessible on this list. Their hours are by far the most generous and they provide online ordering for those who like to plan ahead. The drive-thru window is especially appreciated for those rainy days or days when you just want to grab and go!
While they host the classic selections, from old-fashioned sour cream donuts to fluffy glazed donuts, they also have a unique array of flavors, including maple-bacon, candy-topped, and various themed donuts! The Heavenly Donut Co. can also create amazing personalized donut arrangements for any occasion, too!
The shop has games for kids to play, ample seating, and a nice coffee selection, as well.

Full Circle Donuts (Formerly Hero Doughnuts & Buns)

While Full Circle Donuts hasn’t opened yet, we couldn’t leave the former Hero Donuts off of this list. Due to the recent closure of all of Hero’s locations, the original owner has decided to open up another donut shop in its former Homewood location.
Hero Donuts was an institution for Birmingham donut lovers for years. While they’re now closed, there is reason to believe that Full Circle Donuts will live up to Hero’s reputation.
