We are thrilled to partner with Katie's Plates! This is sponsored content.

As all busy mamas know, nothing can lighten your load like having food delivered right to your doorstep. Now imagine that it’s already cooked, nutritious, and delicious. One local business is making this dream a reality, and it’s called Katie’s Plates! We love finding ways to make a mom’s life easier AND supporting local businesses, so we were thrilled to talk with Katie and learn more about Katie’s Plates. Check out our conversation below!

Who is Katie?

I’m Katie Strickland, born and raised in Birmingham, AL! I’ve been married for six years to a wonderful dude named Ian from Albuquerque, New Mexico. We met at Innisfree Bar in Lakeview district, and the rest is history! We have two boys, Jack & Archie (3 and 1). We are currently in the thick of parenthood! We live in Trussville and love our community.

What are some of your hobbies?

We are currently focused on growing Katie’s Plates and Ian’s real estate business, but in the past few years, we have owned and bred warmblood horses, milked our 2 dairy cows, raised Kune Kune pigs, and done all the “farm things” on our 20 acres in Remlap. We have a vizsla and soft-coated wheaten terrier and a Welsh pony. As you can see, we love animals! I grew up showing horses, and I can’t wait to get back in the saddle!

How did Katie’s Plates get started?

I attended Mississippi State University with plans to become a Registered Dietitian and work in the hospital. I grew up around healthcare, as my dad is a pulmonologist, and my mom is a nurse. I quickly realized that the FOOD part of my schooling was what I loved! During the summers when I came home to Birmingham, I worked as a nanny. One of the families that I worked for had me cook dinner for them each night. Everyone loved it, and the mom suggested that I start a business going to homes to meal-prep for families. I thought, “Why would I limit myself to 5 homes a week, when I could deliver dinner to everyone in Birmingham?” That’s when the idea of Katie’s Plates got started. We are coming up on our 10 year anniversary in January. We have grown and learned so much since then!

How does it work?

To get started, head to our website to check out the meals for the week. You have until Sunday afternoon at 4:30 PM to order for the week ahead. You have two meal options to choose from for each day of the week, and they are delivered right to your door Monday through Thursday. In addition to the meals, we offer breakfast (quiches, etc.), gluten-free chocolate chip cookies, sausage balls, and a special dessert! Let’s say you order a Monday meal. My team and I cook that meal on Monday, and then, your delivery driver will deliver that meal to your doorstep between 3:30 and 6:30 PM. Think of us as your solution to getting a fabulous, southern, healthy, home-cooked meal without having to grocery shop, chop ingredients, or clean a bunch of dishes. We exist for busy families, and most of our clients have been with us since the very beginning. We change our menu weekly, so you’ll never get tired of eating the same things!

Not local? Want to send a meal to friends or family out of town? No problem! Katie’s Plates is a national brand. You can order off our national website here. We will seal your meals and ship them overnight through UPS.

The Browns – “To say that I love Katie’s Plates is an understatement. I had heard about Katie’s Plates for a few months but stubbornly resisted because I kept telling myself that I could cook my family healthy, delicious meals. As a working mom, it was just not happening once I got home in the evenings. My family tried Katie’s Plates for a week, and we were all hooked! Thank you, Katie, for giving us delicious, healthy and fun meals and, just as important, calmer nights without too much time spent cooking and cleaning the kitchen!”
