Arts and crafts are a staple in our house! Not only are they screen-free (always a win in my book!), but crafts are perfect to keep little hands busy. For the littlest hands, crafting can help teach shapes, colors, counting, and patterns. Additionally, crafts for elementary-aged kids can encourage critical thinking skills, creativity, and resilience. But one of the my favorite benefits for all ages is the practice and refinement it offers for fine motor skills. After having taught kindergarten, I cannot get enough fine motor practice for my little one! I have seen first hand how the lack of fine motor practice affects a child in many areas. So, to help you out, I have compiled a list of kid-friendly DIY craft places in Birmingham!

While I love the benefits crafts have for my little one, I also selfishly love a craft that is timeless. From little handprint plates to decorated ornaments, crafts make the sweetest keepsake to bring out every year. It may make me a little teary each time I bring them out to realize how quickly time passes, but what a wonderful reminder to revel in the moment. Happy Crafting!

We really interested in such places where our kid will use her skills to make something by herself . That’s useful information for me as a mother.
