1. Public Skating
Public Skating sessions are the perfect way to enjoy some icy excitement and create lasting memories with family and friends. Sessions are first-come, first-served, and days and times vary.
Pelham Civic Complex & Ice Arena makes it easy for us and posts a monthly public skate session calendar online. You can even register in advance for Public Skate and skip the line.
My family and I did this last month, and it couldn’t have been easier. We booked our session online, picked up our skates, and hit the ice in no time.
- Cost: Admission is $10, with skate rentals available for $4. Group discounts apply for 20+ people.
- Pro Tip: If you have a pair, bring your own skates to save on rental fees!
- Little Skaters: For $10, kids can use Blue Seal Skate Assistants to help them glide safely on the ice.
There’s no admission fee for those who don’t skate so bring some friends or family to cheer from the sidelines. There is also plenty of seating when little (or big) legs get tired!
2. Learn to Skate Sessions
The Pelham Skate School offers a wide variety of classes for all ages and skill levels. Learn to Skate Sessions are designed for both kids and adults, making it a fantastic activity that moms and dads can enjoy with their children! These eight-week sessions provide beginner instruction to people who want to learn to skate, whether aspiring figure skaters, hockey players, or someone who wants to skate recreationally.
If you think you’re too old to learn something new think again! Pelham Civic Complex & Ice Arena even offers special classes designed for the beginner adult skater. These classes promote physical fitness and improve balance and coordination while teaching proper skating techniques.
Anyone ages two and a half and up can learn to skate at the Pelham Skate School. Once novice ice skaters learn the basics, they can move up to the Advanced Level Classes & Teams with the U.S. Figure Skating Aspire program. This program is the bridge between Learn to Skate group classes and U.S. Figure Skating membership.

3. Cheer for the Birmingham Bulls Hockey Team
Hockey season is in full swing for The Birmingham Bulls with plenty of chances to watch a home game between now and the end of March- and possibly into April with a playoff run! If you’ve never been to a Bulls game in person, you are missing out!
They offer theme nights and fun fan experiences where you can sit on the Bulls’ bench during team warmups, receive a special souvenir badge, have access to special photo opportunities with the team and so much more!
Bull fans can purchase season and single-game tickets online and at the Pelham Civic Complex & Ice Arena Box Office.

4. Host an Ice Skating Birthday Party
The Pelham Civic Complex & Ice Arena is the perfect birthday party venue for ice skating or hockey enthusiasts. Their birthday party packages provide a unique, hassle-free way to celebrate in a family-friendly atmosphere.
