10 Non-Candy Ideas for Easter Baskets

From lollipops to marshmallows, it seems the Easter candy flows from everywhere! If you would like to escape the sugar mountain but still find fun and inexpensive gifts that your kids will love to discover on Easter morning, here are 10 non-candy ideas for Easter baskets.

1. Bubbles

Whether you go with bubble wands, bubble guns, or the traditional bubbles in a jar with a wand, you never get too old to play with bubbles.

2. Sidewalk Chalk

I saw some at Target the other day that were enormous! My boys love the ones that come in crazy shapes or are over-sized, but they will play for hours with just the regular 6-pack of chalk you can get for really cheap. 

3. Glow Sticks

You can make necklaces, bracelets, swords, or we even used them to make bases for an outdoor nighttime game of glow baseball at the beach one year. So many options, and all in neon!

4. Crayons & Coloring Books

If you shop at a discount store, these guys are super cheap and super fun. A small pack of crayons and a basic coloring book can be well under $5.

5. Water Guns

At springtime, all any of us wants to do is finally get outside and have fun. What better way than with water balloons, water pistols, or spritzers? I’ll give you a tip for these: They are cheaper if you shop for them in the party favor section of the store. I found a 6-pack of these guys for $2.

6. Sunglasses

Kids sunglasses are super inexpensive and come in all kinds of fun colors (why can’t adult sunglasses be this way?) Keep your little bunny looking cool this Easter.

7. Play Dough

Whether you get one big container or several small ones, play dough is a great way to keep kiddos entertained for hours. 

8. Wooden Trains/Cars

Shop in the craft section of the big discount stores and you’ll find unpainted wooden trains, cars, and more for about a couple dollars per item.

9. Animal Figurines

Another party-favor-staple-turned-Easter-basket-filler, you can get dinosaurs, soldiers, zoo animals, and more in packs of 50-100 pieces for less than $5. 

10. Rubber Stamps

These are a little bit more expensive, but if you shop around, this idea is another craft section steal. You can find stamp kits for $5 and if you shop Target, they often have stamp pads in the Bullseye section. Then you can buy the stamps over in the craft section. Family Tip: Buy one multi-piece stamp kit and divide the individual stamps up between kids to get multiple basket fillers from one purchase.
