From holidays like the 4th of July, to football tailgates, to celebratory get-togethers with family and friends, perhaps no food brings Alabama people together quite like barbecue. Maybe it’s our shared love for white sauce on smoked chicken or the nostalgia we all have for a good southern pie. Maybe it’s the disarming experience of enjoying a meal where everyone has sauce on their face and doesn’t care one bit. I’m not sure I can say for sure what the secret magic of barbecue is, but I do know it’s special, and that the Magic City has plenty to offer. In Birmingham, our affinity for delicious smoked meats, comforting sides, and decadent desserts is evident in the sheer number of barbecue offerings around town!
