Homewood’s The Edge is Officially Open!

the edge homewood

The Edge in Homewood is officially open! As a Homewood mom myself, I’m thrilled to have a place where my whole family can go and have a good time. The space includes a covered food hall with eateries that offer window service, a wine bar, coffee/popsicle shop, a fitness studio, a clothing retailer, and lots of outdoor space to enjoy. A courtyard complete with turf, play equipment, Adirondak chairs, and a big screen provides the perfect spot to watch a game or grab a bit to eat while the kids run around. The Edge is not only a cool development for Homewood, but it’s also a unique addition to Birmingham’s social scene. Here’s what to expect at Homewood’s newest hot spot!

Baba Java Coffee

Every multi-purpose space needs a spot to get your caffeine fix, and Baba Java is the perfect place to do just that! The Edge’s location is the third Baba Java store to open in the Birmingham area, and this coffee shop is well-loved for good reason. Their delicious coffee is ethically sourced and supports farms that provide fair wages to their farmers. The extensive beverage menu includes traditional drip coffee, pour over coffee, espresso drinks, seasonal lattes, specialty beverages, and teas. If you need a snack to accompany your beverage, they also serve Highland Gourmet Scones. The cafe includes a few indoor tables and lots of patio seating.

B’ham Burger

An extension of Birmingham’s The Standard, B’ham Burger serves up a variety of burgers, sandwiches, hot dogs, tots, and fries. The food is classic, delicious, and sure to please adults and kids alike.

Cookie Plug

Self-described as “the new great American cookie company,” this national chain bakes up cookies that are anything but ordinary. Part cake, part brownie, and part cookie rolled into one, these decadent cookies are thick and chewy. Flavors range from classic to creative, and they even offer keto cookies, cookie cakes, and cookie ice cream sandwiches!

Corbeau Wine Bar

Looking for a cool spot to grab a drink? With its first location in Trussville’s Entertainment District, Corbeau is a family-owned business known for being the first bar in Alabama to feature self-serve wine on tap. As you’d expect, the bar features a broad wine list, along with cocktails, beer, small plates, and a short lunch and dinner menu. The bar itself is beautifully designed, spacious, and has plenty of indoor and outdoor seating.

Eighteen South

Another Trussville favorite, Eighteen South is a popular clothing retailer that carries premium new brands, gameday attire, and athleisure. Their “Spirit Collection” features elevated branded attire that promotes local schools. Best of all? A portion of the proceeds from the Spirit Collection go to your selected school’s athletic department!

Popbar

Located in a shared space with Baba Java Coffee, Popbar serves up popsicles with a twist. Choose between a gelato, sorbetto, or frozen yogurt pop, and then customize it with your choice of dip and toppings. With a rotating menu of 60+ flavors, as well as numerous dips and toppings, Popbar makes dessert creative and fun! The health-conscious will be glad to know that the all-natural pops contain no artificial flavors, preservatives, high fructose corn syrup, or dyes.

The Que*Bicle

The Que*Bicle is the latest addition to local chef Nick Carpenter’s repertoire. With three popular establishments in the Warrior area, Chef Nick knows how to bring a unique concept to life. At Que*Bicle you’ll find smoked pork, chicken, turkey, and brisket paired with nachos, tacos, and sandwiches. Sides include several BBQ classics with a flare.

True40

True40 fitness studio teaches fitness classes inspired by barre, yoga, strength training, and pilates. With locations in downtown Birmingham, Tuscaloosa, and Auburn, their classes integrate high-intensity, low-impact movements that will have you feeling the burn!

Shin Ramen Noodle & Asian Cuisine

Along with B’ham Burger, Shin Ramen is an addition to The Edge from Chef Young Shin of The Standard and Pho Pho. Shin Ramen Noodle & Asian Cuisine offers ramen, rice bowls, and other Asian specialties.

The Edge is open every day of the week and truly has something for everyone to enjoy. You can enjoy the shared patio, let the kids play in the green space, watch a game on the lawn, or listen to live music. So, grab the kids, a friend, or just head over yourself for a good time in one of Birmingham’s best new hangout spots!
