Attention: Birmingham Moms! We asked you for the most underrated playgrounds around our city and here’s what you said. (Shhh, don’t tell everyone!) These are our (sometimes) best kept secret playgrounds. They’re beloved for various reasons, like spacious green spaces, fantastic play equipment, ample shady trees, and surprisingly low crowds.

1. Crestline Tot Lot
3781 Jackson Blvd, Mountain Brook
Why Birmingham Moms love it: play equipment for young children, fenced play area, benches, swings, picnic tables, and a pavilion. Parking is available across Church Street. Dogs are not allowed.
2. Ruffner Ball Park
301 Ruffner Road, Irondale
Why Birmingham Moms love it: 20 acre scenic baseball and softball complex with public restrooms, playground, walking path, picnic area, lighted fields, concession stands, a large barbecue pit, and plenty of room to run around.
3. Beacon Park
5309 Beacon Drive, Irondale
Why Birmingham Moms love it: playground, walking path, pavilions, barbecue pits, and a public restroom.
4. Pelham City Park

5. Melrose Park in Chelsea

6. Veterans Park on Valleydale
