Birmingham Mom Collective :: Introducing Sarah

Hey hey new friends! My name is Sarah and I am so excited to introduce myself to you today!

Birmingham

My husband and I moved to Birmingham, Alabama from Seattle, Washington 7 years ago (but this is home now).

I absolutely love the community vibe Alabama brings and I think it is a great place to be a mom because community is fairly easy to find if you are persistent and committed.

Mom

I’m “Mama” & “Mommy” to Rylie, Emmaline, Paisley and Spencer (that’s four kiddos five-years-old and younger). We are also in the process of adopting so I like to say I am pregnant in my heart.

I have always wanted to be a mom, and even though there are hard days (right now it’s navigating and talking through big emotions with my girls and keeping up with my always-moving & getting into everything son),  I love the simple fun I get to have with them.  We love being outside, reading, playing games, being with friends and slow days with our crew.

Collective

I am so excited to be a contributing writer for the Birmingham Mom Collective because I believe more moms are moving to the south and are in need of a fresh community.

As for what you can expect from me, in addition to sharing some of my passions with you, I believe adoption is a topic a lot of people have questions about but it’s hard to find someone who publicly shares their journey—with all its joys, struggles and realities.

Community is a beautiful gift, and I am honored to pour into you in any way I can.

If you would like to follow me personally or keep up with our adoption journey, you can follow me on Instagram – @sarahmshaver – or join our Facebook Group.

Sarah is originally from Seattle, Washington but moved to Alabama 7 years ago and now lives in Columbiana on 36 acres with her husband & 4 children. They are also in the process of adopting and love bringing people along on the wild journey. When she's not homeschooling, you can find her outside, eating good food, reading, writing, taking photos or just being with her people.
