Birmingham Mom Collective has been around for a long time and is home to so many incredible women. Some have been around for years, and others are just starting their journey with BMC. Last month we welcomed our newest team member, Esther McDaniels, as the new social media manager. She has been doing an outstanding job, and we thought it would be a fun idea to get to know her a bit better! This was such a fun little project to work on, and I honestly love all her answers!Without further ado, lets get to know Esther a little better!
All about you:
-How long have you lived in Birmingham?
Since November 26, 2018 – so a little over 4 years now!
-Do you have children? If so, how many?
I do not have any kids as of right now. I am just 10 months into marriage!
-What’s your role with the BMC?
I am the social media manager.
-List one way the BMC has been a blessing to you.
Since being a part of the team, I have already learned of so many more great places and businesses in Birmingham that I never knew about.
Local advice:
-What’s the first place a mom who has just moved to Birmingham should visit/see?
Railroad Park downtown!
-Your favorite way to spend a free day in Birmingham?
Going to a Farmers Market and ending the day playing mini golf with friends at the Leeds Grand River Shops.
-Where is the place you go that instantly calms you?
Moss Rock.
-In your opinion, what is Birmingham’s best kept secret location to visit/see?
I don’t think Moss Rock is a very secret location, but I’m not sure if a lot of visitors know about it so I would say Moss Rock! Or renting a canoe at Oak Mountain State Park 🙂
Heated debate:
-Do you prefer to let your cereal sit in the milk to get soft or eat it right away before it goes mushy?
I have never thought about this question before because I thought everyone would prefer their cereal crunchy!
-Is a hot dog a sandwich?
A hot dog is NOT a sandwich. I would put a hot dog in the hamburger category before I would put it in the sandwich category, but, honestly, I think a hot dog is it’s own category!
-Summer or winter: which is better?
Summer time!
-What is the right way to pronounce GIF?
I think the creator of the GIF pronounces it as “JIF” so that would be my final answer.
-Should toilet paper hang over or under the roll?
I choose not to trust people who intentionally place their toilet paper with the paper hanging under the roll.
Random facts:
-If you could only eat one food for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Probably toasted but day-of fresh sourdough bread topped with salted butter and some of the best Dutch cheese (I’m from Holland!)
-What is an unpopular opinion you have?
Taylor Swift is overrated. *Cue for your gasp*
-Tell us something about yourself that would surprise us!
English is my second language. My first language is Dutch. I’m fluent in both.
