The Best Corner in Homewood

The best corner in Homewood can be found at the corner of Oxmoor Road and Central Avenue. Grab your kids and your mom friends and spend the morning exploring this gem of a corner right here in our city! All of these places are within walking distance of each other, so there’s no need to wrestle getting the carseat and stroller in and out of your car multiple times.

Bitty and Beau’s

Begin your day with some coffee and a pastry. Bitty and Beau’s is not just a delicious coffee shop, it’s a coffee shop designed to celebrate and appreciate diversity. With 20 locations in our country, Bitty and Beau’s provides a career path for adults with disabilities. You can read more about their history here. The Homewood location has spacious indoor and outdoor seating so you can stay awhile with a friend, get some work done, or take a breather before you head over to the park across the street and let your kids run around.

Homewood Central Park

Across the street from Bitty and Beau’s is the popular Homewood Central Park. With many pavilions, two tennis courts, a large playground, and an open green space, kids of all ages can find a way to burn off some energy, here. After they are exhausted and your coffee is gone (or cold–let’s be real), walk on over to Goodies on Central Avenue!

Goodies Toy Store

Goodies is a toy store with a creative concept, located in the old Hero Doughnuts location at the corner of Central Avenue and Oxmoor Road. The store has bins and floor-to-ceiling containers—at the perfect height for tiny hands to reach into—that are filled with small, interactive toys. Kids choose a pre-paid bucket and fill it to the brim with all the toys that can fit! There are four sizes to choose from, ranging from $10-$40. The only rule is that when your child is done shopping for toys, the lid must close on their bucket. There are also larger items not meant to fit inside the bucket that can be purchased separately. The store is small enough to not overwhelm a child with too many options, but large enough to move around and have a variety of toys to choose from. While your child is shopping, you can enjoy complimentary coffee and relax in their lounge area, which is still in perfect view of your little one who is attempting to shop independently.

Tina’s Market

When your child is finished, head next door to Tina’s Market to pick up a meal to take home for lunch or dinner. I don’t know if it’s just a coincidence that Goodies shares space with Tina’s, but it’s a brilliant idea. If a meal is not what you need, Tina’s also has grab-n-go snacks, sides, and The Breakup Cookie dough!

Coffee and a treat? Free play outside? Toy shopping (and maybe more coffee)? Pre-made dinner and cookies? Possibly a quiet car ride home because everyone is exhausted? The best corner in Homewood sounds like a mother’s dream!
