As far back as I can remember, I have always LOVED Valentine’s Day. Now before you roll your eyes and take me for a hopeless romantic, let me tell you the truth. Celebrating love is nice and all, but I’m really in it for the treats. Who doesn’t love an excuse to enjoy yummy sweets?! It’s even better if they are gifted by a thoughtful friend or special someone! Our local businesses offer no shortage of delicious gifts to celebrate the holiday. So, here are five places to find valentine treats in Birmingham.

Chocolata

Known for their unique handcrafted chocolates, Chocolata offers several seasonal gifts for Valentine’s Day. For a more traditional route, go with a box of 4 or 9 assorted bon-bons. These tiny chocolates are beautiful works of art, and some of them even come in cute heart shapes. “Cupid’s Crave,” their special Valentine’s Day bark, mixes dark and milk chocolate with strawberries, crunchy cereal, peanuts, a strawberry white chocolate drizzle, and chocolate crisp pearls. As if that wasn’t enough, it even comes packaged in a sweet pink box. For something a little different, try the Venus & Mars stag bar. Made with ruby chocolate, dark chocolate, and raspberries, this features an elegant stag and a lovely ruby hue.

Birmingham Candy Company

If you’re looking for classic southern confections, Birmingham Candy Company has you covered. Located in Crestline Village, their charming shop showcases numerous bon-bons, truffles, and chocolate-covered delights. Special Valentine’s Day treats include chocolate caramel hearts, chocolate covered strawberries, and chocolate-covered Oreos to name a few!

The Heavenly Donut Co

If you or your valentine doesn’t prefer chocolate, fear not. Valentine’s Day treats come in many forms, including donuts. The Heavenly Donut Co offers fun seasonal donuts for several holidays throughout the year. Valentine’s Day specials include the “I <3 U Box” with a half-dozen decorated donuts, the Valentine’s Day dozen of assorted decorated donuts, and the Valentine’s sprinkles dozen with chocolate or vanilla glaze and seasonal sprinkles.

Church Street Coffee and Books

While you probably aren’t looking to break up with your valentine for Valentine’s Day, don’t let that stop you from buying them some breakup cookies from Church Street Coffee and Books. Sweet and salty, the breakup cookie takes the chocolate chip cookie to a whole new level. They have a cult following for a reason! Valentine’s cookie tins of 8 mini cookies are available in the shop, or you can pre-order 5 or more tins on their website.

Cookie Fix

Another sweet spot for Valentine’s cookies, Cookie Fix offers numerous seasonal flavors and packages to choose from. Seasonal cookie flavors include red velvet, heartbreaker funfetti, Valentine’s M&M chocolate chip, heart first date, and more. Choose from a six-pack box, a cupid cookie cake, xoxo sammies, or a Valentine’s cookie tin.

Now, go get yourself, ahem, your valentine, something special and have a very happy Valentine’s Day!
