The Guide Guru position is a flexible, work-from-home position. You will be joining an encouraging community of mothers united with a mission to connect, encourage, and provide resources for moms and parents in Birmingham, Alabama. Guide Guru Role Description:
The Guide Guru position will be guide/project based and will require a minimum of about 5 hours per week while the guide is being put together (for about 1-2 months per guide or so). These hours are flexible and at home, but some working hours will need scheduled to be during the day. The pay will be commission-based and the guru will receive a percentage of each guide sponsorship. This person will work closely with our Birmingham Mom Collective owner, other team members, and clients.
The Guide Guru responsibilities will include building and selling sponsorships for 5 guides: Summer Camp Guide, Private School Guide, Birthday Party Guide, Youth Sports Guide, and Photography Guide. This person will reach out to sponsors through email and sometimes by phone and follow up several times to secure sponsorships. They will also work with sponsors to receive their logo, photos, and other information needed to build the guide, work with the BMC Executive team to make sure information about social posts and website post are published on time and are accurate, and build the guide in WordPress from a template we have created.
The person in this role must be comfortable with emailing and talking to potential sponsors, completing tasks within deadlines, and working independently.
Guide Guru Ideal Candidate:
- Excellent technical skills and willingness learn to build a guide through WordPress Visual Composer
- Familiar with Google Suite: Gmail, Spreadsheets, Forms, etc.
- Excellent writing, and communication skills
- Ability to meet deadlines
- Mastery of AP and BMC style + WordPress
- Knowledge of SEO (or willingness to learn) and adapt pieces to maximize SEO power
- Understanding of Birmingham Mom Collective’s target audience and love for Birmingham
- Positive attitude, professionalism, willing to show initiative and ability to brainstorm content
- Ability to respond to email within 48 hours.
